ABOUT CAPE ROCK WINES
Simplicity is key for Cape Rock Wines and winemaker Gavin Brand, which is situated 30 km inland from Doringbaai on the West Coast. Here they grow a variety of read and white grapes, including Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Colombard and more.
As far as possible, Cape Rock opt for simpler, less mechanised, winemaking techniques, so as to not disguise the origin of the grapes with chemical additions. The addition of sulphur during the winemaking process is kept to as absolute minimum.
The philosophy of simplicity – but superior taste – is further evidenced in the fact that grapes are handpicked and press with a small-batch pneumatic or old champagne press. Expect a wide spectrum of dynamic, natural flavours from Cape Rock Wines.x
