AA Badenhorst Family White Blend — Swartland Old Vines
The AA Badenhorst Family White is one of the Cape's most highly regarded white wines — a complex, layered Swartland blend from old bush vines, made with the same minimal-intervention philosophy as the Family Red. Multiple varieties (Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and others) are co-fermented in old oak barrels for a textured, aromatic white of rare quality.
The nose is intriguing: stone fruit, honey, beeswax, white flowers and a subtle saline note that hints at the Swartland's ancient seabed soils. The palate is rich and textured with beautiful weight, bright acidity and a mineral finish that goes on and on. This is not a simple quaffing white — it's a wine that demands your attention and rewards it generously.
Pairs beautifully with seafood (especially rich preparations like lobster thermidor), poultry, pork belly, or simply enjoyed on its own as an aperitif. Serve at 10–12°C. Decanting briefly brings out additional complexity.
