These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of www.biltongchief.com (the "Site") and the purchase of products from Biltong Chief Limited ("Biltong Chief", "we", "us" or "our"), a company incorporated in Hong Kong. By accessing the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Ordering and acceptance
When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products in your cart. We will send an order confirmation by email acknowledging receipt of your order. A binding contract is formed only when we confirm that your order has been accepted and is being processed. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order — including where products are unavailable, where there has been a pricing or description error, or where we reasonably suspect fraud.
2. Age restriction — alcohol
Some of our products contain alcohol. Under Hong Kong law, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to any person under the age of 18 in the course of business. By ordering alcoholic products, you confirm that both you and the intended recipient are aged 18 or over. We may require proof of age on delivery and may refuse to hand over alcoholic products where satisfactory proof is not provided.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Prices and product availability may change without notice. Payment is taken at the time of order through our authorised payment providers. We take reasonable care to ensure prices are correct, but if we discover an error in the price of products you have ordered, we will contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed before fulfilling the order.
4. Delivery
- We deliver within Hong Kong, 7 days a week, between approximately 09:00 and 19:00, using cold-chain delivery to preserve product quality.
- Orders placed before 1:00pm Monday to Friday or 10:00am on Saturday are eligible for next-day delivery, subject to availability.
- A flat delivery charge of HK$60 applies unless otherwise stated.
- Delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including adverse weather or typhoon and black rainstorm warnings.
- Risk in the products passes to you on delivery. Please ensure someone is available to receive perishable, chilled and frozen goods promptly.
5. Perishable goods and food safety
Most of our products are fresh, chilled or frozen perishable foods. Except for biltong and other cured products, our meat is delivered frozen. You are responsible for refrigerating or freezing products promptly on delivery and for following any storage and handling guidance we provide. If goods are not fit for consumption on receipt, do not consume them and contact us immediately (see our Return Policy).
6. Returns and refunds
Our returns, refunds and quality guarantee are set out in our Return Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Sale of Goods Ordinance (Cap. 26) and other applicable Hong Kong consumer-protection laws.
7. Product information
We take care to describe and picture our products accurately and in compliance with the Trade Descriptions Ordinance (Cap. 362). Images are for illustration only, and actual products (including weight, cut and appearance) may vary slightly. Weights are approximate unless stated otherwise.
8. Promotions, vouchers and loyalty
Promotions, discount codes, gift vouchers and loyalty rewards may be subject to additional terms and may be withdrawn or amended at any time. They have no cash value and may not be combined unless we state otherwise.
9. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, branding and design — is owned by or licensed to Biltong Chief and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce or use our content without our prior written consent.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Hong Kong law, including the Control of Exemption Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 71). Subject to that, our total liability arising out of or in connection with any order is limited to the price paid for the products concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
11. Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
12. Events beyond our control
We are not responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where this is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including extreme weather, public-health measures, or disruption to supply or transport.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
