Biltong Chief Limited ("Biltong Chief", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal data when you visit www.biltongchief.com (the "Site"), place an order, or otherwise interact with us.
We handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of the laws of Hong Kong ("PDPO") and its six Data Protection Principles. By using our Site or providing your personal data to us, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
1. Personal data we collect
- Identity and contact details — name, email address, telephone/WhatsApp number, and delivery and billing addresses.
- Order and transaction information — products purchased, order value, delivery preferences and order history.
- Payment information — processed securely by our third-party payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.
- Account information — login credentials and preferences if you create an account, including loyalty programme activity.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser type, approximate location, pages viewed and search terms, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Communications — records of your enquiries, feedback and correspondence with us.
Providing personal data is voluntary. However, if you do not provide the data necessary to process and deliver your order, we may be unable to fulfil it.
2. How we collect your data
We collect personal data directly from you when you create an account, place an order, subscribe to our communications, contact us, or take part in promotions, surveys or our loyalty programme. We also collect technical data automatically when you browse the Site, and may receive data from social media platforms and from service providers who help us operate our business.

- To process, fulfil and deliver your orders, including arranging cold-chain delivery with our logistics partners;
- To manage your account, loyalty points and customer-service requests;
- To process payments and to detect and prevent fraud;
- To communicate with you about your orders, deliveries and enquiries;
- With your consent, to send you marketing about our products, offers and news (see Section 4);
- To improve our Site, products and services, and for internal research and analytics;
- To comply with applicable laws and to protect our legal rights.
4. Direct marketing
We may use your name, contact details and order history to send you marketing communications about our products, promotions, recipes and events by email, WhatsApp, SMS or other channels.
In accordance with the PDPO, we will not use your personal data for direct marketing without your consent, and we will not provide your personal data to third parties for their direct marketing. You may withdraw your consent and opt out at any time, free of charge, by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, replying "STOP" to messages, or contacting us at info@biltongchief.com. We will act on your request promptly.
5. Cookies and analytics
Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work, remember your preferences, keep items in your cart, and understand how the Site is used. We use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to help us improve the Site. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some features of the Site may not function properly without them.
6. Who we share your data with

- Service providers who support our business — including our ecommerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, delivery and logistics partners (such as SF Express and our warehouse partner), and email/messaging providers — strictly to provide services to us;

- A successor entity in the event of a business reorganisation, merger or sale.
We require our service providers to protect your personal data and to use it only for the purposes we specify.
7. Transfers outside Hong Kong
Some of our service providers may store or process personal data on servers located outside Hong Kong. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely and in a manner consistent with this Policy and the PDPO.
8. Data security
We take all reasonably practicable steps to safeguard your personal data against unauthorised or accidental access, processing, loss or use, including encryption of transactions and restricting access to those who need it. - request correction of any inaccurate personal data;
- ascertain our policies and practices and the kinds of personal data we hold; and
- withdraw your consent to direct marketing at any time.
