Klein Constantia Chardonnay — Cool-Climate Elegance

Klein Constantia's Chardonnay benefits from one of the coolest vineyard sites in the Cape — the Constantia Valley, where mountain breezes and maritime proximity produce wines of exceptional freshness and finesse. This is a Chardonnay that leans Burgundian: restrained oak, bright acidity and a mineral-driven elegance that sets it apart from richer, warmer-climate styles.

Citrus, white peach and pear on the nose, with subtle oak spice and a hint of toasty complexity from barrel fermentation. The palate is medium-bodied with a creamy texture, well-integrated acidity and a long, savoury finish. The oak is present but not dominant — a framework for the fruit rather than a flavour in itself.

Pairs beautifully with roast chicken, lobster, creamy pasta, risotto and rich fish dishes. Decant briefly or swirl generously in the glass to open up the aromatics. Serve at 10–12°C — slightly warmer than most whites to let the complexity shine.
