AA Badenhorst Secateurs Chenin Blanc — Swartland
The Secateurs Chenin Blanc is AA Badenhorst's entry point into one of the Swartland's most exciting wine portfolios — but don't let the accessible price fool you. Made from old bush vine Chenin Blanc (South Africa's most planted white grape), this wine punches well above its weight with complexity and character that belie its modest positioning.
Bright stone fruit and citrus on the nose — peach, nectarine, lemon zest — with a textured, medium-bodied palate, crisp acidity and a clean, mineral finish. The old vines (many over 30 years old) produce lower yields and more concentrated fruit, giving this wine a depth and intensity that mass-produced Chenin cannot match.
One of the most food-friendly whites you'll find: pairs effortlessly with biltong, chicken, Asian cuisine, seafood, salads and light pasta dishes. Equally excellent as a standalone aperitif. Serve chilled at 8–10°C.
