AA Badenhorst Single Old Vine Cinsault — Light & Elegant
This Single Old Vine Cinsault is one of AA Badenhorst's most distinctive offerings — a light, elegant red from ancient Cinsault bush vines in the Swartland. Cinsault was once dismissed as a bulk variety in South Africa, but winemakers like Adi Badenhorst have revealed its potential from old, low-yielding vines: silky, perfumed and hauntingly beautiful.
Pale ruby in colour with aromas of red cherry, rose petal, pomegranate and a whisper of cinnamon. The palate is featherlight but complex — silky tannins, bright acidity and a savoury, lingering finish. Think Burgundy's elegance at a South African price point. This wine converts Pinot Noir lovers to Cinsault.
Serve slightly chilled (14–16°C) to highlight the freshness and floral aromatics. Pairs with charcuterie, biltong, roast chicken, salmon or mushroom dishes. A wine for contemplative drinking — serve it to someone who thinks they know South African wine and watch their assumptions dissolve.
Currently on clearance — exceptional value for one of the Cape's most exciting red wines. Store in a cool, dark place. Drink now or hold for 3–5 years. Under Hong Kong law, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.
