David & Nadia Grenache — Swartland New Wave
David & Nadia Sadie are among the most exciting young winemakers in the Swartland — part of the new wave of producers who are redefining South African wine with old vines, new thinking and minimal intervention. Their Grenache is a pure expression of this philosophy: old bush vine Grenache, wild-fermented, aged in old oak, bottled with minimal intervention.
Pale ruby with captivating aromas of red cherry, pomegranate, dried orange peel and subtle garrigue — the scrubby, herbal quality of the Swartland landscape. The palate is light-bodied but deeply complex, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a savoury, perfumed finish that lingers beautifully. This is a wine of finesse rather than power.
Pairs with charcuterie, biltong, roast duck, Mediterranean dishes, mushrooms and aged cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at 14–16°C to highlight the freshness and aromatics. Swirl generously in the glass — new aromas emerge with each pass.
